As a LGBTQ+ founded company, June at Equator Coffees is a time to reflect upon the Pride we feel year-round, celebrating the remarkable joy, compassion, and indeterminable spirit that make this community so special.
Explore a list of some of our favorite non-profit organizations, doing crucial work to protect and uplift queer communities.
Rainbow Railroad
Rainbow Railroad is a global not-for-profit organization that helps at-risk LGBTQI+ people get to safety worldwide. Based in the United States and Canada, we’re an organization that helps LGBTQI+ people facing persecution based on their sexual orientation, gender identity and sex characteristics. In a time when there are more displaced people than ever, LGBTQI+ people are uniquely vulnerable due to systemic, state-enabled homophobia and transphobia. These factors either displace them in their own country or prevent them from escaping harm.
You can donate directly to Rainbow Railroad on their website.
This June, Equator Coffees is donating 5% from every sale of our Pride Tiger T-Shirts, available in both swoop and crew neck, directly to this vital organization. Rainbow Railroad is also our June "Cup for a Cause" beneficiary, receiving $1 from each pour-over coffee sold at our cafes all month.
The LGBT Asylum Project
The LGBT Asylum Project is the only San Francisco nonprofit organization exclusively dedicated to providing accessible legal representation for LGBT asylum seekers who are fleeing persecution due to their sexual orientation, gender identity and/or HIV status. Their sign, hanging clearly in the heart of the Castro in San Francisco, is a beacon of hope that means the possibility of remaining here permanently and receiving understanding, caring, and professional assistance to do so.
This incredible organization was the beneficiary of our 2023 Pride giveback campaign and is incredibly deserving of your support. You can donate directly to the LGBT Asylum Project on their website.
