This year’s Super Bloom blend centers around a coffee produced by the members of the Nyampinga Cooperative, an all-women’s group located in the Nyaruguru region of Southern Rwanda. The word ‘Nyampinga’ has a nuanced translation in Kinyarwanda, Rwanda’s native language, which refers to the coming of age of a young woman who is proud, beautiful, and respected within her community. The fully washed Bourbon variety coffee adds floral and spicy flavors that form the backbone of Super Bloom’s distinctive flavor profile.
In perfect harmony with the Nyampinga coffee, another fully washed coffee from Ethiopia enriches the blend’s floral and spicy character. This coffee comes from the Omran family’s estate, Abana, which they have run since
2009. Located in the picturesque highlands of Ethiopia’s Limu growing region, most of the farm sits above 2,000 meters, providing ideal conditions for specialty coffee production. Realizing the potential to produce better coffee, the Omran’s shifted their focus from volume to quality, refining their practices by data tracking, processing experiments, and sensory skills.
To add body and complexity, the blend is completed with a coffee produced on Altos del Abejonal, a farm owned and operated by Mauricio Vindas in the Tarrazú region of Costa Rica. Mauricio single-handedly processes all of the farm’s coffee and has perfected the often-finicky natural processing method, where the fruit is left intact while drying on the beans. The process imparts a sweetness and distinct berry-like flavor, which balances the spicy and floral flavors of the other components in the blend.

For this spring’s blend, we combined the unique qualities of sustainable coffees from Rwanda and Ethiopia, to create a celebratory and diverse profile with flavors of white peach, coffee blossom, and ginger.
Super Bloom is a seasonal blend that gives us the opportunity to take single-origin coffees we enjoy on their own and combine them in unique ways to create something delicious! Super Bloom is offered each year during the spring months from April-June, so be sure to get it while it lasts!
