Origin Story

Doña Sofia Plocharski (Guatemala)
J. Hill & Aida Batlle (El Salvador)
Faysel Abdosh, Aricha Washing Station (Ethiopia)

The Prime Meridian blend is crafted around a fully washed coffee from Guatemala, grown by Doña Sofia Plocharski on her family farm, Finca Armenia Lorena. Passed down through generations, this farm is a testament to what can be achieved when each steward of the land upholds a legacy of excellence. Doña Sofia has introduced innovative techniques, combining modern processing methods and data-driven farming practices while maintaining the farm’s rich heritage. The flavors of milk chocolate and spice form the heart of the Prime Meridian Blend.

To enhance the complexity and add fruity notes, we’ve incorporated a natural processed coffee from Finca Buenos Aires in the Santa Ana region of El Salvador. The natural (or dry) processing method, which keeps the coffee fruit intact during drying, imparts bold, fruit-forward flavors that complement the blend beautifully.

The final touch is a fully washed coffee from the famous Yirgacheffe region in Southern Ethiopia. Processed at the Aricha Washing Station, known for serving several exceptional coffee-growing communities, this coffee introduces a clean, floral flavor profile that adds depth to the blend. When these three distinct coffees come together, they form a wonderfully balanced and approachable blend.

Why We Love This Coffee

Featuring coffees from some of the world’s best known and most beloved producing countries, Prime Meridian Blend is designed to be smooth and satisfying. Originally, the blend was developed in collaboration with a Bay Area technology company for serving in their offices. One of their employees suggested the name “Prime Meridian” as a whimsical play on Equator’s name.
